Have a ZIP or a larger mailbox?

Extract the ZIP on your computer, then select the .mbox file inside. There is no fixed limit on the archive’s file size. Up to 100,000 messages and 64 MiB per message; other processing limits apply. Large archives take longer to open. Read the Takeout guide.

Free viewing and downloads. No card needed.

Inside the download

A package with context.

Your ZIP contains your selected attachments and an index showing each file’s original name, sender, email subject and date.

Extract the ZIP and open its index to see which email each file came from. Duplicate filenames stay separate. A spreadsheet view is included too.

Choose exactly what travels.

Need just one file? Use Download beside the attachment to save it directly. Use the checkboxes and Review export to download several files together. For a spreadsheet of your emails instead, use the MBOX to CSV tool.

Search sender, subject or attachment filename. Open Filters to narrow by sender, UTC date range or file extension. Inline images are hidden by default; include them if you need them. Selected files stay in your export as you change filters. The selection bar tells you when selected files are outside the current view.

Review every selected file, its sender and its source subject before downloading. Remove any file you do not need. Source emails are optional: including them adds complete messages, with any unselected attachments they contain. Calendar attachments may be normalized by the MIME parser, so retain your original MBOX for recovery.

Download a sample ZIP to see the result before opening your own archive. The sample uses fictional emails.

Supported files and exports

One conventional MBOX file at a time, with no fixed total-size cap: up to 100,000 messages, 64 MiB per message and 100 attachments per message. For ZIP exports larger than 200 MiB, use direct saving in a supported desktop Chrome or Edge browser. Other browsers use a download limited to 200 MiB. Content-Length variants, PST, MSG and outer ZIP archives are not accepted. Attached emails remain attached files; their contents are not recursively extracted.

All current exports are free. No payment details are needed. Read about pricing and file-handling limitations.
